The TOPBUILDER Awards, which number among the most prestigious in Poland’s construction industry, have been conferred. The competition is organised by the Builder publishing house and this year’s winners include ALUPROF S.A., the aluminium systems manufacturer headquartered in Bielsko-Biała. Both the ALUPROF MB-SE80 MLT mullion and transom unitised curtain wall system designed for the Mennica Tower and the ALUPROF SKB Styroterm top-mounted roller shutter system were singled out for awards.

The actual presentation of the awards was unprecedented. Given the current state of emergency, the statuettes were forwarded to the winners. The awards ceremony was originally planned for 19^th March 2020, but will now be held once the coronavirus pandemic ends.

First-class product quality appreciated

The competition jury consisted of members of “Builder” magazine’s Scientific Council. Their task was to select sixty winners from amongst the many entries. The four sections were Developments, Services, and Product of the Year. The points that the jury took into consideration included first-class product quality, innovation in material, technological and construction solutions, exceptional services and sectoral enterprise. New building developments distinctive for their superior architecture and use of cutting-edge technology were also award winners.

The Product of the Year section has two categories; newness and innovation, and products recommended and verified by the market. Both the ALUPROF product awards came under the first category.

For offices and homes

The ALUPROF MB-SE80 MLT mullion and transom unitised curtain wall system was designed specially for the Mennica Tower, a innovative, contemporary office building in Warsaw. The system is a solution intended for the construction of lightweight, suspended curtain walls. The structure of this kind of wall consists of modules which are produced in their entirety in the factory. The height of the modules corresponds to the height of the storey they are intended for, while their width is established in accordance with the architectural design. The appropriate differentiation in the shapes of the aluminium profiles and the glazing technology used for the segments of the façade made it possible to obtain a diverse range of visual effects on various elevations of the building as per the design.

The SKB STYROTERM, on the other hand, is a technologically advanced solution created with an eye to energy-saving buildings. During the winter, it significantly reduces heat loss via windows and doors. During the summer, it provides interiors with superb protection against overheating. In addition, it makes it possible to achieve savings of up to thirty per cent annually. It can be used in newly constructed buildings and during modernisation work when window joinery is being replaced. The roller blinds can be controlled manually, by remote control or via a smartphone, as required.

The ALUPROF share of the domestic aluminium systems market is more than forty per cent, making it the leader of the sector in Poland.
