ALUPROF. A STRATEGIC PARTNER OF THE POLISH GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL’S 10TH GREEN BUILDING SYMPOSIUM
The Polish Green Building Council (PLGBC) will be holding the 10th edition of its Green Building Symposium on 8th October. This year’s jubilee event will take place online. The programme offers talks, case studies, discussion panels, conversations and a range of additional activities. ALUPROF SA, a Polish aluminium joinery manufacturer, is a strategic partner of the symposium.
A major date for the sector
The PLGBC Green Building Symposium is the most influential event for Poland’s green building sector. The key phrase for the jubilee edition is ‘Climate Emergency’. Acting together in pursuit of sustainable design and the modernisation of existing buildings is the key to success.
The symposium, which drives pro-ecological innovation and the potential of passive building, is Poland’s primary space for the exchange of experience with, and information about, science, interaction and technologies designed to lead to greater efficiency, a safer environment and better quality of life for future generations. Involving society, including architecture and design representatives from all over the world, in green building offers a chance of introducing a new standard of living for all of us.
ALUPROF S.A. A Strategic Partner
ALUPROF S.A., which is based in the southern Polish city of Bielsko-Biała and is a European leader in the aluminium joinery sector, is a strategic partner of this year’s symposium. The range of systems offered by the company not only increases the chance of receiving green building certificates such as BREEAM and LEED, for instance. It also makes it easier for consumers to make informed decisions about product selection and the reduction of the negative impact that the construction process and subsequent use of a building has on the natural environment.
As Bożena Ryszka, ALUPROF’s Marketing and PR Director, explains:
Our company’s sustainable development is particularly important to us. We have been working with the Polish Green Building Council for years on initiatives popularising green building. As a trailblazer for new market trends, we have a sense of responsibility for the future of international architecture. In our most recent AluBOOK publication, “The Green Zone Album of Trends” we invited experts, architects and scientists to discuss a range of topics, including the concept of green building, and present examples in practice. We celebrate Green Building Week every year with a series of infographics and texts about some of the buildings where our systems have been used… and this year, we’ll be continuing that tradition. So we were very happy to collaborate on the PLGBC Green Building Symposium.
The Symposium programme
Given the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s symposium is being held online and will be streamed from the PLGBC website. The speakers, all of them international experts in the sector, will be presenting new research, innovative solutions and case studies relating to sustainable building. Their talks will refer to selected goals of sustainable development and will be presented in four strategic, thematically corresponding sessions entitled Climate Action, Health and Wellbeing, Resources and Circulation and A Net-Zero Future. Embodied Carbon in Buildings.
Bożena Ryszka adds that:
During this year’s online event, participants will be able to see presentations of buildings that are distinctive on a global scale. One of them is the world’s tallest wood and aluminium building… the Sara Kulturhaus, located in Skellefteå, a city in north-east Sweden. It was designed by White Arkitekter and it features several of our energy-saving, aluminium joinery systems.
As well as creating an engrossing main programme for the symposium, the PLGBC has also taken care to provide interesting additional activities in the form of a co-working zone creating a virtual photographic exhibition entitled Environmental Photographer of the Year 2019. There will even be some gymnastics!
